# The one version of matomo this package replaces: 1:5.3.1-2, the last one published
# under that name by this repository, which exists to announce the rename. Installing
# this package removes it, and its maintainer scripts are the ones written for that --
# nothing is deleted on remove, and the web server configuration is left in service.
#
# Deliberately nothing else. Earlier versions from this repository (4.16.1-1 to
# 5.3.1-1) still carry a prerm that deletes /usr/share/matomo/config on removal, and
# the announcement version is the one that checks whether the tree was replaced by
# Matomo's own updater; so they have to pass through it first, and the preinst says so
# rather than leaving it to dpkg's file-overwrite error. And nothing about the versions
# Debian publishes under this name: a Conflicts there reads to apt as "resolve this for
# me", and apt resolves it by removing Debian's package before this package's preinst
# can see it, refuse, and explain. Saying nothing leaves it installed, which is what
# lets the preinst do that, with dpkg's own overwrite check behind it.

Description: Leading Free/Libre open source Web Analytics software
Matomo is a full featured PHP MySQL software program that
you download and install on your own webserver. At the end of the five minute
installation process you will be given a JavaScript code. Simply copy and
paste this tag on websites you wish to track and access your analytics reports
 in real time.
 .
This package ships Matomo as upstream releases it, bundled libraries included,
and follows upstream releases. Debian's own matomo package is a different
thing: its bundled libraries are replaced by Debian packages and its version
follows the Debian release cycle. Both install into /usr/share/matomo and
cannot coexist, which is why they now carry different names. Until Matomo
5.3.1 this package was itself called matomo, and the collision was silent.

Package: matomo-vanilla-logfile
Architecture: all
Section: web
Depends: ${misc:Depends}, matomo-vanilla, logrotate
Description: report archiving log file for matomo-vanilla
Writes the output of Matomo's report archiving run to
/var/log/matomo/matomo-archive.log, rotated daily and kept for
thirty days. That is where the matomo package from
debian.matomo.org put it, before Debian 12 stopped installing a
 syslog daemon by default.
 .
matomo-vanilla leaves that output to the journal alone, as a
package published today should: "journalctl -u matomo" shows it,
already rotated and already size-capped. This package is for
administrators whose own tooling reads the file, and it adds the
file rather than replacing the journal -- the run is recorded in
 both.
 .
It installs one systemd drop-in and one logrotate rule. Nothing
else changes, and removing it puts the service back as it was.
